July 2010
Sat.,
Jul 03 – TRAIL RUN – 3 hours ****Meet
at the park and ride 3900 So Wasatch Blvd at 5:30 am**** From there we will car pool up to the top of
Millcreek Canyon and begin our adventure at the Upper Big Water Trailhead. Rather than post a mileage goal, we will do
an out and back trail run with the potential of seeing Dog Lake and for our
fastest perhaps even Desolation Lake. 1-1/2
hours after beginning everyone is to turn around and head back no matter where
you might be. In order to ensure that
all car pool vehicles can leave in a timely manner, you must be back to the
trailhead 3 hours after we start. For
those of you who haven’t run trail before, have no fear. This is a trail that does not require trail
shoes or expertise. If you have a water
bottle or Camelback please bring it with you as no sag will be provided on the
trail. There will be water and Gatorade available
at the beginning and end of the run.
Bagels afterward at Einstein’s on Wasatch Blvd and 3900 South.

Sat.,
Jul 10 – Centerville Run – 14 miles Meet at the Fresh
Market in Centerville. From I-15 take
the Centerville/Parrish Lane exit and drive east. We will follow the map as shown with one
exception - at the third water stop continue past for one mile and then turn
around. The sag will remain in the same
spot for stops 3 and 4. Bagels afterward
at Paradise Bakery in Bountiful 135 N 500 W.
Sat.,
Jul 17 – Avenues w/City Creek – 14-15 miles Meet at the east
Capitol parking lot for the traditional “Goin’ Postal” run with the following
addition – as we round the corner going down Gravity Hill, turn left and head
up City Creek canyon for 1.25 miles. For
those with GPS’s please let your fellow runners know where to turn. If all else fails, for those without a GPS,
pay attention to the mile markers on the side of the road. When you pass the “1” you don’t have too far
to go before turning around. Once out of
the canyon, continue the traditional route with the turn around point at the
post office. Bagels afterward at
Einstein’s 481 E South Temple.
Sat.,
Jul 24 – Emigration Canyon/Des News Aid Station – 12 miles Following our
annual tradition, Run Loco has volunteered to man the aid station just east of
Ruth’s Diner. Because the race falls on
a Saturday and we don’t want it to interrupt our training…we are (once again
this month) mixing things up. Please meet at 5:00 am
at the Rotary Park 2850 E Emigration Canyon Road (across from Hogle Zoo). We will run up 4 miles to the aid station to
do our volunteering. Once the race has
ended, we will continue up the canyon for another two miles at which point we
will turn around and head back down the canyon.
Total mileage is 4 (before the race) + 8 (after the race) = 12. There is a rumor there may be pancakes at the
aid station, but if not, meet for bagels at Corner Bakery 610 Foothill Blvd.
